Farcry 3 Confirmed

There has been a rumor going around about about Farcry 3, and today that rumor has been confirmed!

Far Cry 3 is the upcoming sequel to the 2008 video game Far Cry 2. It will retain the use of the Dunia Engine, which will be updated, and will take place in Africa like Far Cry 2. The game is still in preliminary stages of development. In an interview with PlayStation magazine; an ubisoft scriptwriter said: It' looks pretty exciting. This was posted on computerandvideogames.com Far Cry 3 is in development and looking "pretty exciting", an Ubisoft scriptwriter has told Official PlayStation Magazine.

Speaking at a recent Avatar junket, OPM asked Ubisoft scribe Kevin Shortt if he was working on a third Far Cry title and instead of the usual "no comment", the mag received a refreshing response...

"No I'm not," he replied honestly. "But I know the team are and what I've seen looks pretty exciting." Far Cry 3 confirmed then, just like that.

Other than that blatant response, it's mostly guess work so far on what we should expect from Far Cry 3. Last year though narrative designer Patrick Redding did mention that a sequel would likely retain an African setting, though he also mentioned Antarctica as a possibility.

It's also probable the third game will be based around an improved version of the Dunia engine, OPM points out, which was specifically built to handle complex real-world physics within a sandbox environment.

When moved over, FC2G should be faster than ever! : D

Hardcore Mode Information

by OV3RS1GHT on Thu 19 Feb 10:24

We recently received an email from Ubisoft giving us some information about Hardcore mode. Check it out!

"A lot of questions have been raised on the forums about a hardcore mode feature. Today we are happy to confirm that you will be able to enjoy this new mode on all platforms with our next wave of patches.

The hardcore mode has been designed as an answer to a community request. When designing the multiplayer game our team wanted to provide a balanced experience for most gamers. However some players were seeking and expecting a more realistic experience.

The addition of a "hardcore" setting, available in every game mode, will have many consequences:
A new damage model will be applied with increased damage for all weapons.

All weapons have been rebalanced on normal mode, and on hardcore mode.

Enemy names will disappear after the spawning invincibility period is over (A shield is displayed above a player's head for a few second to show that he is invincible).

A new option will allow you to tweak spawning time (but not spawning rate).

A new search option will be available in multiplayer to allow you to find games that are playing on hardcore mode.

We hope that you will like the changes our team has implemented to let you enjoy the game, and play it the way you want.

Thanks for your contributions!"
